Part 1: “Starting a Business in Japan”

This seminar, co-hosted with SERVCORP, is designed for foreign nationals considering starting a business in Japan. It aims to provide an overview of Japan’s startup ecosystem, comprehensively organize what foreign entrepreneurs need to know when starting a business in Japan, and provide practical learning that will help them prepare smoothly for starting their business.
The seminar will be held as a three-part series:

  • Session 1: Starting a Business in Japan (Scheduled for January 20) Registration now open for this session
  • Session 2: Subsidies, Grants, Fundraising, and Business Planning for Startups in Japan (Planned for mid-February)
  • Session 3: Residency Status and Visas for Starting a Business in Japan (Planned for mid-March)

*Details for Sessions 2 and 3 will be announced on the TOSBEC website approximately one month before the confirmed dates.

 

We are now accepting applications for Session 1: Starting a Business in Japan.
In this first session, we will start with a macro-level explanation of the environment surrounding startups in Japan, including policies, and then will look at the challenges that foreigners in particular tend to face when starting up a business, explaining the background and trends behind these challenges. And then also learn about countermeasures through examples of overseas entrepreneurs who have started and continue their businesses in Japan.

Kazuhide SUZUKI
Kazuhide Suzuki, a certified Small and Medium Enterprises Management Consultant of Japan and certified Security Analysts Association of Japan has a rich professional history that has developed in diverse fields. In 1989, initially starting his career at Kokusai Securities Co. Ltd, working in the Financial Derivative department, in 1999, he moved to Morgan Stanley Japan Limited where he became a vice president in the Stock Derivative department, and then in 2002 moved to Dresdner Kleinwort Japan Limited, where he served as Director of Marketing. After a brilliant career at prominent financial firms, as his passion for support for small and medium enterprises burgeoned, he established his own business in 2010. Suzuki’s deep depth of observation and diverse dynamic experience make him a persuasive and knowledgeable voice in the financial area.
